The civilian Hong Kong Pipe Band, which was first formed in 1982, is currently undergoing a revival. The band welcomes into its ranks pipers and drummers who are living in Hong Kong.
Current and past members of the band include pipers and drummers
originally from Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Canada,
USA, New Zealand, South Africa and Hong Kong itself. Their
full-time jobs are just as varied and include engineers, an
accountant,
a quantity surveyor, a school teacher, university students,
two serving police officers and a number of businessmen. They
have
previously
played in
a variety of bands, including top competition civilian pipe
bands, military (regular & reserve) pipe bands, police
pipe bands, fire brigade pipe bands and similar.
During the 1980s and 1990s, the band wore kilts in the Ancient Caledonia tartan, however in 2005 the band changed tartan and is now wearing the
modern MacLean of Duart.

The Hong Kong Pipe Band is available for
hire as a complete entity, or alternatively can provide individual
pipers/drummers for functions such as Burns' Suppers, St. Andrew's
Day functions and Hogmanay throughout the South-East Asia region. |
